In September of 2022 Whisper was released.  And it advanced speech-to-text technology from "finicky sometimes functional" demo tech to “wow, you could build a whole product experience on top of that UI” tech.  

Speech is our highest bandwidth form of expression.  With the advent of a technology like Whisper, we now have immediate and total access to capture the spoken enormity of each of our own existences.  Like our photo albums, our deliberate spoken thoughts can yield a beautiful memory and history of our lives.

And the fact that this spoken lexical goldrush is happening with the emergence of LLMs, which are themselves magical language boxes, means we are able to create something new. Something not unlike a temple for yourself.

We feel like technology has so far failed to live up to its promises.  The core services that comprise our social fabric are places where we either must perform for scarce attention, or consume as audience members. Untold is meant to be a place where performing for the self is more than enough.
